How Massage Therapy Can Relieve Work Stress

How Massage Therapy Can Relieve Work Stress

Introduction Anyone who has ever had a job in any industry knows a little something about work-related stress. Some types of jobs are more prone to stress than others, but all will experience it from time to time.

Introduction Whether you’re the vice president of a big company, a cashier in that same company or the person who cleans the floors once everyone goes home, stress is a factor. Sometimes the stress is mental and sometimes it is physical, but you must find a way to ease it or you may find yourself in a serious predicament.

Introduction One solution that more and more people seem to turn to for work stress is massage therapy. When you get into the details, it almost seems as if massage therapy was made for work stress.

Common Work Stress Symptoms According to the Mayo Clinic, stress can have serious effects on your body, your mood and your behaviour. The stresses that you experience in the workplace may result in: Muscle tension and pain Headaches Chest pains Upset stomach Loss of libido Fatigue Sleep disruptions Anxiety Depression Restlessness Anger Inability to focus

What Is Massage Therapy? According to the Registered Massage Therapist’s Association of Ontario, “massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body.”

What Is Massage Therapy? The purpose of massage therapy is to relieve pain, rehabilitate, augment and maintain physical function. The different techniques provide relief for many different ailments, stemming from stress, overuse of muscles and several chronic pain syndromes. The website states that between 17 and 23 percent of Canadians have used massage therapy at some point, and it is a generally accepted form of treatment.

How Stress Affects Health The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety website list several health issues that can result from too much stress in your life. One of the things that make work stress so serious is that we typically spend 40 or more hours per week on the job. This prolonged exposure to a stressful environment can make the health effects even worse, because your body doesn’t get a chance to switch it off like in an immediate danger “fight or flight” type of situation.

How Stress Affects Health Your body has a pre-programmed response to stress that is often referred to as the “Generalized Stress Response”. The effects on your body include: Increased blood pressure Increased fatty acids and cholesterol in the blood Faster heartbeat and respiration Faster blood clotting Increased stomach acids Increased blood sugar production Inflammation

How Stress Affects Health When you add these kinds of effects to the symptoms listed earlier, it’s easy to see how prolonged exposure can result in serious health problems.

Massage Therapy Treatment If the effects of work-related are getting to you physically or emotionally, ask your doctor to refer you to a registered massage therapist. The Chiro Med Rehab Centre lists the following conditions as some of the ones that are treatable by massage therapy. Headache Neck pain Postnatal pain Low back pain Lymphatic drainage Repetitive stress injuries Shoulder pain Stress

Massage Therapy Treatment As you can see, several of the symptoms and effects produced by stress in the workplace are the exact same ones that massage therapy can treat effectively. Some work benefits even allow for a certain amount for massage therapy on a yearly basis. Check with your benefits, check with your doctor, and go see a massage therapist to help relieve the effects of your work stress sooner rather than later.

How to Deal with Dental Anxiety

Introduction Many people who don’t suffer from dental anxiety can’t understand why those who do don’t just “suck it up” and push their way through the appointment. After all, you only have to go twice a year. Of course, people who do have anxiety about the dentist know that it isn’t even remotely that simple. If you are one of the thousands who feel terrified at the thought of the dentist chair, here are some proven tips for dealing with your anxiety, that others use everyday.

Open Communication According to Everyday Health, maintaining an open dialogue with your dentist about treatment options helps to give you a sense of power and control over the situation. If it makes you feel better to know everything that’s going to happen, let the dentist know. If you’d rather be kept in the dark, let her know that, too.

Open Communication You may even want to come up with a signal to use with your dentist and hygienist to let them know when you’re feeling antsy

Effective Pain Medication The website WebMD says that one of the primary reasons people avoid seeing the dentist is due to fear of pain. Luckily, there are a number of effective pain medications available to dentists so they can numb just about any degree of pain before it really has a chance to take effect.

Effective Pain Medication The most common pain medications available at the dentist’s office include: Topical Anesthetic – these are applied with a cotton swab and are used to numb a spot in your mouth on your gums before minor work is done. Electronically Delivered Anesthesia – this is also known as TENS, and it is designed as an alternative to a local anesthetic injection. Nitrous Oxide – this is also called ‘laughing gas’ and it is inhaled through a facemask to help patients feel relaxed and remove anxiety. This is one of the more common forms of sedation, according to WebMD.

Effective Pain Medication Intravenous Sedation – this is an injection of a sedative into the arm or hand to control pain and anxiety. This may be used for more involved dental procedures, or for extremely anxious patients. General Anesthesia – general anesthesia means the patient is put to sleep for the entirety of the dental procedure. Most patients who get general anesthesia have their procedure in a hospital rather than a dentist office. General anesthesia has risks, so it is usually reserved for more complex procedures.

Distraction If medications aren’t your thing or they don’t agree with you, an alternative-type treatment may work. Sometimes, simple distraction techniques are effective at reducing anxiety when you visit the dentist. Some dentists will give you headphones to watch television, or you could bring your own and listen to music instead. Taking a little vacation in your own head by imagining that you are on a beach or playing sports or anywhere else can also be an effective technique, if your imagination skills are strong enough.

Acupuncture Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese treatment for scores of different ailments, and anxiety is on the list. Explain your situation to the acupuncturist and see if he or she can help.

Counseling In some cases, traditional psychological therapy or counseling can help you overcome your fears and visit the dentist without incident. Counseling will teach you coping strategies and techniques you can use in real life situations. Whatever you learn, practice before you get into the dentist’s chair, so you are well equipped to calm yourself when the time comes.

Counseling If you’re interested, ask your therapist or counselor if group sessions are available to let you meet and associate with other dental anxiety sufferers. Sometimes, meeting people who have similar issues will help you deal with your own more effectively.

Hypnosis Hypnosis is a technique often associated with magicians, but many therapists are qualified to do it, and use it regularly with patients. Basically, hypnosis puts you into a relaxed state and opens your mind to the power of suggestion. Sometimes, hypnosis sessions will result in an anxious patient being able to relax himself enough in the chair to make it through a dental appointment.

Basic Information About Cell Disruption

In many different industries and for many different reasons, the concept of cell disruption is an important process. Here is some basic information about cell disruption so you are equipped with all the general knowledge you need.

Introduction

First, it makes sense to describe the structure of a cell so you can visualize exactly what is being disrupted. The Structure of a Cell All cells have a plasma membrane, and that membrane is the only barrier between the contents of the cell and the environment, when you’re talking about animal cells.

When it comes to plant cells or bacteria, there is an extra cell wall that surrounds the plasma membrane, and this wall is rigid. Cell disruption occurs easier in animal cells than it does in plant cells, because the plant cells have several cellulose layers that the animal cells don’t have. This makes the plant cells quite a bit stronger and more difficult to disrupt. The Structure of a  Cell disruption, which is also known as ‘bacteria cell lysis’ refers to an external force or condition breaking down the contents of a cell. Cell disruption can occur by natural or artificial means, but when it happens artificially, it’s usually because someone or some organization is conducting research. What Is Cell Disruption?

After cell disruption has occurred, the leftover material that contains all of the contents of the destroyed cell is called the ‘lysate’. A substance that encourages cell disruption to happen is called a ‘lysin’. General osmosis that happens inside the cells of plants and animals is one of the more common cell disruption methods in the natural world. What Is Cell Disruption?

In a laboratory setting, there are several call disruption methods that may be used to get the job done. According to Bio Rad, here are some of the most common: Osmotic Lysis – the cells swell up and burst after being suspended in a hypotonic solution. Detergent Lysis – the cells are suspended in a solution containing a detergent to make the cell membrane soluble. Freeze / Thaw – the cells are frozen in liquid nitrogen and then thawed out. Methods

Enzymatic – the cells are suspended in a solution that contains enzymes, designed to digest the cell wall. Another cell disruption method usually follows this one for the best effect. Sonication – this is a harsher cell disruption method where the cells are subject to short bursts of ultrasonic waves. French Press – the cells are subject to shear force when they are forced through a small opening at high pressure. Methods

Cell disruption is used in several different industries on a regular basis, and as part of the regular process. For many products, controlling the particle size and cell disruption is a crucial element in order to produce products that are safe and of high quality. Industries

Here are some of the primary industries where cell disruption equipment is required, according to high shear processor maker, Microfluidics: Pharmaceutical Cosmetics Biotechnology Energy Nutraceuticals & Food Chemical Industries

Cell disruption methods might be used in any of these industries in the lab as part of research, or as part of the manufacturing process to produce a finished product perfectly to spec. Industries

Considering some of the industries that use cell disruption to create their products, the process is very important. Sending out food products or nutritional supplements or pharmaceutical drugs that have flaws is a sure way to lose customers and possibly a whole lot more. In certain industries and with some products, there really is no room for error. Poor cell disruption methods can even affect criminal investigations, as it is a necessary part of the DNA extraction process. Importance

How to Make Skin Lightening Cream at Home

Instructions

things you'll need:

  • 1 ½ cups plain organic yogurt
  • 3-4 almonds
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp honey
  • a pinch of ground turmeric
    • 1
Crush the almonds in a food processor until they turn into powder. Watch them carefully. If you process them too long they'll turn into almond butter. If you don't have a food processor, you can find pre-crushed almonds at most grocery stores sold as "almond flour" or "almond meal". Either one is suitable for this skin lightening cream recipe.
    • 2
Combine the almond powder with the yogurt, lemon juice, honey and turmeric. Stir until blended thoroughly.
    • 3
Apply a small amount of skin lightening cream every night before bed. Do not apply during the day. Lemon juice can react negatively to sun exposure. Also, when skin lightening cream is used at night, its skin tone enhancing powers are increased. At night, skin goes through a recovery cycle where hormones are released that increase blood circulation and open pores. This process makes it easier for skin creams to penetrate and be absorbed.
    • 4
Expect to see results in 14 days. Almonds, lemon juice and turmeric are the most powerful natural skin lightening ingredients in the world. They can produce results equal to many chemical skin lightening creams. They've been used for centuries for their natural bleaching and brightening properties. All three are proven to even skin tone, improve texture and increase skin's radiance. When you combine these ingredients with the nourishing and moisturizing properties of yogurt and honey, the end result is a luxuriously rich skin cream that not only will lighten skin color, but will also improve the overall health and condition of your skin.

Everybody in the world is fond of white skin and is ready to do anything to get the skin whiter. Even fairer skin people put their best efforts to keep their skin tone whiter. Especially Asians are fonder to get a whiter skin and do lots of things to get the skin whiter and lighter than the natural shade.
There are many ways to whiten the skin. There are plenty of treatments, creams and lotions available for skin whitening, which are meant not only for those who have darker complexion but also even for those who gets darker complexion because of sun tan, age or pollution. Darker skin has more production of melanin a substance in body, which makes the skin appear darker.
The fairest the skin the lesser melanin it has. But fairer skin has more chances to get effected by Ultraviolet rays of the sun than the darker skin as melanin absorbs the UV rays and prevents them to penetrate the skin to get it darker. Skin whitening creams have agents as bleach, aloe Vera, extracts from lemon and all those things which can clear the complexion and can make it whiter. They reduce the production of melanin in the body, which is the cause of skin darkening.

To get the skin whiter you can try any of the whitening cosmetic creams, soaps, lotions, herbal whitening creams or cosmetic treatments available at many saloons or you can try some home remedies which are quite helpful to some extent.

How to Protect Your Skin from Winter Weather

Winter season give happy mood to most people, but our skin hate the extremely low temperature winter brings. Cracked skin and peeling lips is the most common sign of winter dryness. Applying lip balm and moisturizers, drinking plenty of water, and wearing warm clothing helps prevent the symptoms.
Tips for Healthy Winter Skin:
  • Drink plenty of clean water, about eight to twelve glasses a day. Dehydration is hard on the entire body, but it shows first on the skin. Skin is constantly handling incoming bacteria and releasing toxin through perspiration. Drinking plenty of water helps the body to do the job of housecleaning. At the cellular level, plenty of water is essential for fluid balance and exchange of waste material.
  • If you're breathing very dry air, get a humidifier. Indoor heating systems tend to dry the air, which dries your mucus membranes, making them more sensitive to infection. A humidifier is good for your sinuses, for your lungs, and for cold prevention. You should have one in the room you spend the most time. Always remember to keep your humidifier very clean.
  • Use moisturizing lotions with vegetable oils and aloe vera, because aloe vera is loaded with healing properties. Avoid mineral oils, which may clog your pores.
  • For rough, chapped skin, open a vitamin E capsule and rub directly on the affected area.
  • Get plenty of omega-3 fatty acids by eating fish such as salmon, mackerel, cod, tuna, sardines, herring at least twice a week, and omega-6 fatty acids by taking supplements of evening primrose oil. These beneficial oils work at the cell level to keep skin smooth and supple.
  • Try lecithin to keep skin cells flexible. You can sprinkle lecithin granules on cereals or salads or eat them straight.
  • Avoid hydrogenated oils and trans-fatty acids found in refined vegetable oils (not including canola oil or olive oil) and margarine, which contain toxic oxidative molecules that cause aging and compete with the beneficial omega-3 fatty acids for cell receptors.
  • Wear gloves whenever it's cold out. Cold, dry air pulls moisture out of the skin, aging it faster.
  • Drink alcohol in moderation. It's a vitamin robber and skin ager.
  • If you're spending more than 30 minutes outside in the snow, be sure to wear a sun block with an SPF of 15 and sunglasses, because white snow is a highly reflective surface for bright sunlight.
  • Take vitamin D supplement. People who live in an area where there is little sunlight are usually deprived of this vitamin. Vitamin D helps to regulate the absorption of calcium and phosphorus. Typically there is only a small amount of vitamin D that comes from dietary source, including liver, egg yolks, fresh milk, and fatty fish. More is produced when a particular kind of cholesterol is converted by the action of ultraviolet rays in sunlight on the skin.

How to Stop Oily Skin

Are you really despearate to stop oily skin? Are you constantly aware of your shiny, oily face? Does it make you feel uneasy and embarrassed in front of others? Are you in need of an oily skin cure? These are all questions that anyone with this condition will certainly say yes to, and for good reason, because trying to get rid of oily skin can be a difficult and frustrating journey for many in this situation.

Oil secretion from the skin, also known as sebum is caused be overactive sebaceous glands producing far too much oil than is required. It is a natural occurrence, which is necessary to lubricate our skin and hair, but only becomes a problem when the glands produce far more than is needed, making our bodies feel dirty and greasy. It tends to be more prolific on the shoulders, neck and head, with the face being the worst place of all.
The main concerns for many tend to be forever cleansing the skin, having a greasy looking complexion, acne prone oily skin and embarrassment when in the company of others. Within only an hour or so of cleansing, the skin can have a sheen and greasy appearance to it and will gradually get worse as time goes by. Hot and humid conditions will make it worse and if left to build up can make it feel as if your face can’t breath and is ready to explode. Does this sound all too familiar to you?

Our skin and hair needs oil which acts as a natural moisturizer, but when the glands produce too much it makes our skin look shiny, dull looking and dirty. This very often creates other problems like spots, blackheads, swelling, enlarged pores and hair that looks like a grease pot. It is more widespread in teenagers but certainly not uncommon for many who are in their twenties, thirties, forties and fifties to suffer with oily face skin problems.

Topical solutions can help but do not slow down the production of oil. Too much washing can also have a negative effect because it can stimulate the glands to produce even more sebum. If you think about it, what you really need is an oily skin cure that slows down the production of oil before it ever has chance to reach the skin. You need a treatment that works from the inside by slowing down your overactive glands and balancing the discharge of sebum to the face and other problem areas of the body.

So is there anything we can do to balance the production of oil and put a stop to our embarrassing problem?
There is a natural oily skin remedy available that works in a totally different way to most other treatments by stopping the over-production of sebum from the sebaceous glands before it reaches the skin. This in turn helps to shrink larger pores and stop oily skin from ever being a problem again. No more embarrassing situations when in the company of others and no more mopping up every couple of hours.

How to Take a Mental Health Day

The official World Mental Health Day is celebrated every 10th of October, with the goal of advocating mental health education and awareness. However, there’s another way you could celebrate Mental Health Day.
  • Know what a Mental Health Day is. To take a mental health day means to take an unscheduled day off from work or school, in order to sort out your psychological or emotional problems. You could take a mental health day if you’re feeling too stressed or frustrated at work, if you’re in the midst of a high-pressure project and you just want to take a break from it, or if you’re suffering from anxiety at the very thought of going to the office.
  • Avoid the guilt. A mental health day may not be the typical reason for having the day off. But think of it this way: How will you be able to work effectively if you’re just not in good condition mentally or emotionally? As you will need to rest your body in case you have a physical ailment, so should you rest your mind so you could achieve healthful mental stability. Plus, you’ve got the experts backing you up: according to the World Health Organization, health is “not only the absence of infirmity and disease but also a state of physical, mental and social well-being.”
  • Take the whole day to relax. Having a mental health day means you should really rest and relax your body and mind. It is not a day for you to do your chores or to run errands. Treat this day as a day for you to recuperate from the stressors at work. Stay in bed, listen to restful music, take some warm chicken soup, and catch up with your reading.
  • Be strategic. Though it could be very tempting to take a mental health day on Mondays, avoid doing this. That’s because you would be most likely accused of malingering if you’re not in the office on a dreaded Monday. It’s best that you take your day off in the middle of the week; another bonus to this is that midweek is the best time for you to recharge after the pressures of Monday and Tuesday.
In addition, take your mental health day during the day when you don’t have any deadlines due or office meetings scheduled. The stress of thinking about that unfulfilled obligation will just render your off futile!

    • Call up your office. Inform your supervisor that you’re not feeling well that day and you need to take the day off. Don’t feel like you need to explain yourself too much. The key here is not to do this too often, or else your bosses will have a harder time accepting your absence.
    • Have a coworker ready to take over. You should have a “partner” at work that can readily take over your general responsibilities while you’re away. You could return the favor for him whenever he needs to take a mental health day himself. Also, you should make it a point to organize and label your files well so the others at work can easily access them when necessary.
    • Turn off your cell phone. It won’t do you any good to take a mental health day if the stresses from the office can follow you to your home! Once you’ve given your instructions, leave it at that and sign off.

Learn to value your mental health, and give your mind the opportunity to rest and relax now and then. Good luck!

how to maintain good health

Ways To Maintain Good Health

10 tips that are easy to follow to maintain good health.

With all the emphasis put on our health it may seem like a never ending challenge to stay healthy so here are ten simple things to incorporate in your hectic lives:
  1. Eat right

Eat fruits, veggies, dairy, grains, cereals, proteins and lean cuts of meat. Limit the intake of salty and highly fattening foods. An effective plan is that of the Mediterranean eating habits, where you can acquire on a daily basis the nutrients you need, Omega 3 fatty acids (you know, the good kind), and consume generally delicious food in reasonable portion.
  2. Exercise

Who has the time, you say? Only 30 minutes, 3 times per week, of moderate intensity cardiovascular workout is all that it takes. You will see not only an improvement in the way you look, but also the way you feel. Physical activity is a great way to release stress.
  3. Floss

Brushing doesn’t remove every piece of plaque. Lucky us, we have dental floss, which removes food particles in between teeth and at the gum line. Those who don’t floss regularly have much higher chances of developing an oral disease, such as gingivitis. So, grab that string and start flossing!
  4. Reduce Stress

Take 15 minutes out of your busy day to unwind briefly and take a few deep breaths, inhaling slowly, and then exhaling as you clear your mind. While at work, sit upright, with a straight-back, in your chair. Place both of your arms out to the side and gradually move them upward, meeting directly above your head. Bring them down together in front of you. This should make you feel lighter, calmer, and generally less-stressed for a period in the day.
  5. Smile and laugh

When you feel that tension building in your neck or you find yourself grinding your teeth, stop and just smile. You’ll instantly feel relieved from your worries. Rent a funny movie or laugh about a ridiculous joke your friend told you. The important thing, just take some time out to laugh and flash that beautiful smile, even if it’s only for yourself.
  6. Drink more water

Water keeps you hydrated and helps to flush out toxins from your body. Instead of grabbing a soda, pick up a glass, throw in a couple of ice cubes, pour in the water and squeeze in the juice of fresh lemon or throw in a couple sprigs of clean, fresh mint to give it some flavor. (Check the nutrition labels of the trendy flavored-water drinks before buying, many are loaded with sugar and will help to negate the effect of drinking H2O)
  7. Get some sunshine

We all need vitamin D, which is a nutrient that can be obtained by catching some rays. The sun also assists in releasing endorphins, a secretion from the pituitary gland that is correlated with a generally good, energetic feeling.
  8. Sleep right

A full eight hours of peaceful sleep is the best idea for your health. If that seems a little much, try taking it easy for about an hour or so before you plan on going to bed. All in all, it is best to try to rest and relax for 1/4-1/3 of the 24 hour day.
  9. Wash your hands

Wash your hands continuously during the day to kill 90% of germs with hot water and antibacterial soap. If this is even too much to do, just grab some antibacterial hand gel and rub it into your hands, front and back. Diseases are most easily and frequently transferred via the hands.
  10. Maintain healthy relationships

Healthy, supportive relationships with family and close friends will reduce anxiety and will provide a more positive outlook on life. It’s important to listen as much, if not more than, you talk; think about what you want to say before it comes out of your mouth; understand that everyone is human and makes mistakes.

How To Lose Belly Fat

How to lose belly fat is one of very common question these days among many of us reason being our unhealthy and sedentary lifestyles. Belly fat is positioned very deep the body skin and may cause many diseases at times including diabetes, heart diseases and cholesterol level. Thus belly fat not only raises visual problems but functional problems as well. Here I am outlining some simple tips on how to lose belly fat:

How To Lose Belly Fat With Help Of A Diet:

Diet is of utmost importance where belly fat is concerned. Eating fat-friendly diet would not only stop enlargement of belly but would also help body to fight fat. You must start eating 5-6 mini meals in a day rather than 3 main and larger meals. It would help lose belly fat as we will be eating less during main meals. Small and regular interval meals also boost metabolism as body requires more energy in order to do frequent digestions. Losing belly fat would be a breeze. We recommend starting day with rich breakfast and ending it with poor dinner. Apart from frequency of meals, type of meal is also important. Some foods help lose belly fat like fish/ vegetables/ fruits/ black chocolates etc. Contrary to this, few foods destroy the efforts to lose belly fat. Foods high in saturated fats/ sugar must not be included in our diet.If you are looking on tips on how to lose belly fat, also look to drinking correct drink; best drink being water. Water is essential and vital for our body as it helps liver proper function and that accelerates fat burning process as liver has the ability to burn fat stored in reserves and convert it to energy. So drink lots and lots of water avoiding full dairy drinks like milk shakes or chocolate drinks and soft drinks. Better alternative is Fresh fruit juice but eating fruits is even better. Learn about the truth about six pack abs program.

How To Lose Belly Fat By Doing Some Exercise

Another way to lose belly fat apart from diet is exercise. Some forms of exercise are:
Resistance training exercises: It includes various Weight lifting exercises that help body to fight fat along with building muscles. There are not any of specific or particular exercises to lose belly fat particularly without losing fat from other area. Working with abdominal exercises, stomach muscles may get tighter as well as stronger. Other weight lifting exercises include squats/ dumbbell rows/ chest presses etc.
Cardio exercises: These are also very beneficial if you plan to lose belly fat. Cardio exercises also accelerate heart rate making us breathe faster thus body spending more energy. Find out about the best way to lose belly fat fast. While exercising, it is important to feel increasing heart rate and faster breathing. In case you are exercising without feeling any pressure, results won’t be that good. Exercising must be done regularly (at least 3-4 times/ week). Exercising only once and not doing it for a month is more like nothing done at all.
Losing belly fat is not a simple thing and lots of effort must be put in the process. I am trying to key in important information on how to lose belly fat. People keep on trying many things and don’t get success in the first attempt itself. You must have also heard about various machine based equipment to lose weight but I definitely do not recommend them at all. Other option you would come across when searching on tips on how to lose belly weight would be various types of belts (Sauna belt, Abs Belt) that promise to give you slimmer belly in specific time. But I assure that nothing would be good enough or better than exercising right and eating right. Perhaps you should do exercises to lose belly fat. Slimming belts would not be producing satisfactory results and even if it does, these are temporary. As soon as you stop using these, fat would pile up back on belly. These activities also reduce metabolism levels of or body thus causing more harm in long run than doing any good.
Next available thing in market is what we call the Morning Walkers, which claims to burn belly fat just by laying down on floor for 10- 15 minutes twice a day. It is for you to believe or not but I would be very judgmental in this and believe that even if your body is working, your mind is relaxing which may cause conflict between function of your body and mind.
How to lose belly fat is a tough to answer whereas gaining that fat is simplest thing. Moreover the lifestyle of today also force us to sit for long hours for work, comfort of cars that don’t allow us to walk and moreover life is so busy that we don’t find time for our self.

How To take care of skin in winter

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN IN WINTER
Take good care of your skin care during winter with these winter skin care tips.

As the winter months sets in, the weather turns colder, windier and drier, your skin will need some extra help and protection from the environment. Sometimes, the weather may change rapidly and you need to be prepared. Otherwise the skin on different parts of your body such as your hands, your face and your lips will begin to become dry, chapped and crusty.

Is it necessary to have a winter skin care routine?

When the temperatures change, a change in your skin care routine is necessary. Get to know your skin a little, how it works and the effects of winter conditions on the skin. Then adjust your usual skin care routine a little and it will make a difference to your complexion during winter and help to improve the overall health of your skin.

So use the following winter skin care tips to adjust your winter skin care routine as the cold weather draws near.

WINTER SKIN CARE TIP #1
TAKE A DAILY HOT SHOWER
Taking a hot shower daily is important for the hygiene of your skin. You should do so in winter too. Keep these winter skin care tips in mind when stepping into the shower:

* Avoid harsh (typically colored, fragrant or antibacterial) soaps and stick with mild non-drying soaps.

* Apply your moisturizing cream immediately after bathing and toweling dry. This will seal in the moisture. Use moisturizing creams and ointments that are more appropriate for the body than the face.

WINTER SKIN CARE TIP #2
MOISTURIZING
Choose a really good moisturizer. Without doubt, this is the most important winter skin care tip.

For your day cream, choose one that contains zinc oxide, and provides SPF30 protection. Good Moisturizers should form a protective barrier against the environment and its elements. Select preparations which are creamier and water-in-oil emulsions.

Your skin may become extremely irritated during winter. You should have some extra heavy duty moisturizing cream handy. You will need them for these problematic areas.

Do you have dry skin? The harsh winter conditions will make your skin even more dry. Watch it! Click here for more tips on dry skin care.

WINTER SKIN CARE TIP #3
TAKE CARE OF YOUR LIPS
Your lips – do not forget about them. Lips become easily chapped during winter. It is a very common and noticeable winter problem. Soften them up and pamper them throughout the winter season.

You should use a lip balm to keep the lips moisturized and prevent them from drying out. The 3 essential qualities of a good lip balm:

* Good moisturizing properties
* Provide a barrier and protects the lips against the elements
* Contains vitamin E for good elasticity

If your lips are peeling, heavy moisturizing alone will not treat the underlying problem or get rid of unwanted peeling skin. Waxes alone do not have any rejuvenation ability. They cannot help to replenish lost moisture. Choose a product that has AHA. Soften the lips nightly. It has a therapeutic effect on the lips.

Are you on Accutane or other medications that has a drying effect on your skin? It is still okay to use the above regimen. Consult your dermatologist. He may be able to prescribe an ointment that will help solve your problem. Or he may get you off your Accutane regimen temporarily.

WINTER SKIN CARE TIP #4
TAKE CARE OF YOUR HANDS AND FINGERS
One of the huge concerns of winter is dry hands and cracking fingers. It is worse if you do a lot of housework or your work requires you to come into contact water or chemicals a lot.

The dryness of the environment causes water to evaporate very quickly. As the water evaporates, it removes moisture from the skin too. So exposure to water actually dehydrates the skin faster.

After washing your hands, seal them with a towel immediately and gently pat dry. You should do the same to your body after a bath.

Such simple habits help to prevent what is commonly known as winter itch. As one age and gets older each year, the likelihood of suffering from winter itch is even higher.

Your hands and your fingers tend to suffer more due to their constant contact with the elements. Use simple hand creams to help protect them against the elements in the environment and retain moisture. Use therapeutic options when the hands are suffering from itch and cracks.

* CREAMS FOR ENIVRONMENTAL PROTECTION

These creams build a barrier between your skin and the cold, dry winter weather. Use a good, bland moisturizing cream frequently.

Use creams and not lotions. Lotions are absorbed quickly into the skin. It will form the protective barrier that is required.

Switch to a cream or ointment base during winter!

* THERAPEUTIC OPTIONS

Are you suffering from painful cracks around the fingertips? Do you have hard and dry skin on the hands?

You may need some prescription options or antibiotic ointments to treat and heal the cracks and fissured areas.

Do you have a past history of this type of condition? In this case, plan ahead and keep your regular therapeutic creams handy. Apply them before any fissures form.

Do you have psoriasis or eczemas? Consult your dermatologist and keep your prescriptions and ointments handy. Ask your doctor about the moisturizers that you should use.

WINTER SKIN CARE TIP #5
TAKE CARE OF YOUR FINGER NAILS
Keep your finger nails moist and prevent them from turning brittle.

One key winter skin care tip is to minimize exposure of your skin to water. The less contact the better.

If you have to do housework, wear protective gloves.

Applying a nail hardener will help to protect and toughen them up.

Take calcium supplements but be sure to follow the dosage given in the package. Are your prone to kidney stones? Check with your doctor before starting them.

WINTER SKIN CARE TIP #6
TAKE CARE OF YOUR SCALP AND HAIR
Do you have seborrhea commonly known as dandruff? Use non-prescription medicated shampoos will help you to keep the condition at bay. Watch out! Medicated shampoos tends to cause your hair to dry out and your hair will lose its shine.

WINTER SKIN CARE TIP #7
EXFOLIATE
During summer, we often complain about oily skin. However, this is noticeably absent during winter due to the drier weather and central heating. Therefore the skin finds it harder to retain water in the dermis layer. Premature agind and fine lines are the result. The skin may also appear grey and puffy.

The number of times that you exfoliate should be increased to twice a week. Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and allow the skin to absorb more moisture.

WINTER SKIN CARE TIP #8
DRINK LOTS OF WATER
Drink lots of water to prevent dehydration. Try drinking a glass of hot water with lemon. Some people believe that this herbal remedy will help to re-energize your body. It will also help to detoxify your entire system, including the liver and gall bladder. This means that your body will be able to clean the blood faster to get rid of toxins responsible for bad skin.

WINTER SKIN CARE TIP #9
GET PLENTY OF SLEEP
Get plenty of sleep! Sleep is when your body will rejuvenate itself. During sleep, the oxygen levels in your body will drop.

Lack of sleep will take a toil on your body in the long run. If you do not get sufficient sleep, your body and your cells (including the cells in your skin) will not have a chance to be renewed as quickly. Degenerative skin aging sets in.
,br> It would be ideal if you can get at least seven, if not eight or nine hours of rest a night.

WINTER SKIN CARE TIP #10
DO NOT LET UP ON SUN PROTECTION
Don’t forget your sun protection! The sun doesn’t go away just because it’s snowing or cloudy!

Continue to use your sunscreen with an SPF of 15 that protects against both UVA and UVB. This is an important step in your daily winter skin care routine. The sun ages your skin ... Prevent it!

You may want to change to a more hydrating base for your sunscreen for wintertime. Extra hydration does not mean extra oily. There are many formulations available that are oil-free. Also, wear a sun protective hat.

WINTER SKIN CARE TIP #11
OTHER WINTER SPECIFIC CONCERNS
Winter is the time of the year when skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and seborrhea flare up. You should have your prescriptions handy. Start on them early. This will cut down on flare ups and treatment time.

Some people report that their acne condition turn worse during winter time. While damaging to the skin, the ultraviolet rays of the sun could have actually help to reduce the formation of acne. So when summer sun is gone, acne may flare up. Again, the best protective action is to have your prescriptions handy. So if you are prone to acne flare-ups in winter, book an appointment early with your dermatologist. You don’t want to wait 6 weeks to get your prescriptions filled or changed.

Be careful of poison ivy! The plant resin could be carried in on logs for your fireplace. To protect yourself, wear gloves when handling the logs and wash your hands immediately after completing this task. Just in case, stash up some poison ivy medicine in your first aid kit.

Last but not least, protect yourself from frostbite. Watch out for frostbite if you are outdoors, at high elevations or in windy conditions or have wet clothings. Change your clothes immediately when coming in from skiing or other winter sports. Carry extra clothing and blankets in your car when traveling.
